Ricardo Murgel is a 9th Degree Grand Master of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, one of fewer than 25 worldwide. He is the Founder and Head Coach of the Union Team, with over four decades of global teaching experience. Beginning his martial arts and law enforcement journey in 1957 in Rio de Janeiro, Master Murgel holds a Judo Black Belt and advanced training in Boxing, Muay Thai, Luta Livre, Submission Grappling, and MMA. He is uniquely certified by the Peace Officer Standards and Training Council (P.O.S.T) as a Guest Instructor in Defensive Tactics and Firearms—making him the only BJJ Grand Master with this distinction.
